Udupi, Aug 17: The 75th Independence Day was celebrated with great patriotic fervor at St Marys campus. The entire campus was thematically decorated with the colors of Tiranga upholding the theme of 75th Independence Day ‘Nation First, Always First’. The celebration began with a secular prayer song led by teachers' choir. Errol Gonsalves, a well-known Radio Jockey, Television anchor, Media expert and journalist from Mangaluru was the chief guest of the program. Rayan Christ DSouza, the founder and director of Freelancer Network [TFN], Udupi was the guest of honor. This time the celebration was restricted to the teaching and non-teaching staff of the institution owing to the ongoing covid-pandemic. Live streaming of the program in You tube platform was also arranged to facilitate the virtual viewing of the large group of students and parents.
Gerald Pinto, the physical education director escorted the guests and other dignitaries to the flag post and assisted the formalities of flag hoisting. Fr Charles Menezes, the correspondent of the institution unfurled the national flag which was followed by National Anthem and Dhwajgeeth. Later Vinay Suvarna, the PRO of the institution administered the National pledge to the audience.
After the customary unfurling of the National flag, the formal stage program continued in St Marys Auditorium. This auspicious occasion witnessed a landmark achievement of the institution in the form of the launching of School’s new ERP software. This new Educational App introduced by the school will update students and parents with academic calendar, curriculum plans and study progress. In his brief introductory remarks on the new Educational App of the school, principal Fr Johnson Sequeira said that the new App of the school is uniquely designed with lot of users’ friendly features. He also acknowledged the humble approach and committed efforts of Rayan Christ D’Souza in designing the App. The new educational App introduced by the school was officially inaugurated by correspondent Fr Charles Menezes. Later Rayan Christ DSouza and Errol Gonsalves were honorfully felicitated by the dignitaries on the stage. Rayan Christ DSouza in his speech expressed his gratitude to the encouragement and hospitable treatment he received from the school in designing this simple yet unique educational App. Chief guest Errol Gonsalves in his speech appealed the audience to celebrate freedom in true spirit by spreading love and staying united always. Correspondent Fr Charles Menezes in his address opined that the greatness of India lies in her ability to uphold the oneness amidst vibrant and rich diversities. He also offered his regardful salutes to the unsung heroes of the Indian freedom struggle.
The guests and invitees were presented with mementos as a mark of love and gratitude.A thematic patriotic dance depicting the value of unity in diversity was presented by teachers as a part of cultural activity.
Gracian Bothelo, the honorable member of the school management committee graced the occasion. The program was coordinated by vice principal Rita Quadros. Smitha and Gerald Pinto anchored the program. Nazia extended the words of welcome. Savitha proposed the vote of thanks.
