Udupi: Christ School Manipal celebrates Independence Day

Media Release

Udupi, Aug 16: This year, Christ School - Manipal ensured that the fervour of patriotism lives on and shifted the 75th Independence Day celebrations online. Every year, a sea of school children adds youthful energy to the grand event, but amid the corona virus scare, they were not present on the occasion of this year.

However, the ceremony started at 9.15 am in the school quadrangle with school staff, school managing committee members and parishioners. Our beloved correspondent – Fr Frederick D’souza was the chief guest of the day, who hoisted the National Flag. The academic coordinators - Cyrilla Lobo and Sumalatha along with all the teaching and non-teaching staff saluted the flag and then sang the National Anthem with nobody moved honouring it. The correspondent addressed the gathering appealing to their nationalistic spirit and quoted the famous lines of John F Kennedy – “Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country” and emphasized on Three T’s – Truth, Trust and Tolerance.

In the end of the ceremony, sweet-balls (laddoos) were distributed. Indeed, it was a day of joy, a day to love and respect our country and make it a better place for Indians to live and experience the freedom, peace and unity in diversity.
