Chikkamagaluru: Men demand bar in town, women protest - Excise department in quandary

Daijiworld Media Network – Chikkamagaluru (MS)

Chikkamagaluru, Aug 7: In a bizarre incident that took place in the district where men demanded liquor bars in the town while women urged to close the same.

Villagers of Anche Chomanahalli and nearby areas of Kadur taluk protested in front of the excise office urging that liquor bars should not be opened in their village at all. However, a group of men said that they want it as they cannot live without liquor.

Daily wage labourers live in large numbers in Anche Chomanahalli and nearby areas. There are people belonging to nomadic tribes also. Women of this area say that their husbands consume liquor to the brim and come home in inebriated condition. So they shed tears in front of the media not to open a liquor bar in their village.

On the other hand, the men say that they do hard physical labour all day and they need liquor every evening. Otherwise their hands and feet will not move. At present the nearest bar is at a distance of 10 km from their village and they say that it is not possible for them to go to the bars at such a distance after working the whole day.

Both the groups have submitted an appeal to the deputy commissioner with their requests. Excise department is neutral in this regard as deputy commissioner is the final authority to close or open a liquor bar.

Why do these people need bar? Homemade desi daru is available in plenty on the ghats. Genuine stuff is cheaper and healthier too.

Readers, " Bacchus " ( Wine) has been in existence since time immemorial.. Chronic drunkards will find their daily portion, come what may !!! Gujarat is on paper a dry state, yet booze is easily available, even delivered right at your door steps !!! These guys are alcoholics.. They will continue to destroy themselves and their families... Alcoholism is a disease, patients must call Alcoholic Anonymous, in your vicinity at the earliest, to stay free from this vice !!!!

How dumb these women are!! If a bar or wine shop is not available in the vicinity, men will spend on bus or auto to go the Chikmagaluru or nearest town for liquor. If a bar or wineshop is opened in the town, atleast the excess expense on transportation can be saved!!!! Someone please convince them!!!

All the men who are demanding bar in the town are of no use at all. Believe me these people are planted by those who want to put a bar in this area. Believe me or not, those who have made money through Excise department, liquor business are not worth in life because that money has curse of plenty of innocent people especially the women, children, kids of drunkards. This business is not worth at all.
