Mangaluru: Thieves rig wall of jewellery store, steal ornaments

Mangaluru, Aug 6: A theft attempt was made in the jewellery store named 'Gold King' at Mudipu in Kurnad village within Konaje police station limits during the early hours of Friday August 6. The shop is co-owned by M Ibrahim from Kurnad.

Unknown miscreants tried to break into the store by rigging a hole in the left side wall of the shop. After the matter was conveyed to the Konaje police, the personnel went to the spot and took up the probe with the help of sniffer dogs and fingerprint experts.

It is said that silver jewellery worth about Rs 10,000 was stolen. Investigation is on.

Technology prevents dacoity

As the thieves were entering the jewellery shop after making a gape in the wall, siren started blaring. Still they managed to steal the silver chain. As the CCTV app was on the mobile phone of the jewellery shop owner, he could see the siren blaring through his mobile. Within 10 minutes, the jewellery shop owner reached the shop. However, within that time the strangers escaped from the spot with the silver chain.
