Byndoor, Aug 5: Dr Vivekananda Shetty (57), veterinary officer of the veterinary hospital at Kulur ended his life in the inner room of the clinic on the night of Tuesday August 3 by slicing the blood vessel passing through the neck.

Shetty has left behind his wife and son. He used to work in the clinic till the evening and return home at Markodu village thereafter. On Tuesday, the family members were concerned as he did not return even during the late night hours. The family members and relatives began to frantically search for the veterinarian. Villagers of Kollur and the police checked the room inside the clinic and found blood stains. The family members were contacted and in their presence, the door of the clinic was broken open whereupon Shetty was found lying in a pool of blood.

Dr Vivekananda Shetty was a brilliant person and had won the gold medal when he was a student. He had served the remount and veterinary corps division of the Indian Army for four years. He also was backed by the experience of having pursued this profession in Canada. No reason could be attributed immediately to his decision to take away his life.

Kollur police who registered a case, are investigating.
