Karkala , Oct 25: A suspicious death case has now been classified as a slow-paced murder involving the wife and her lover. The incident was reported from the Ajekar police station.

The deceased is identified as Balakrishna (44) from Marne village, Karkala. He had been suffering from fever and vomiting for the past 25 days and was initially treated at the Rotary Hospital in Karkala, where doctors diagnosed him with jaundice. Despite further treatment at KMC Hospital in Manipal, Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru, NIMHANS Hospital in Bengaluru, and Victoria Hospital, his condition did not improve. Balakrishna was brought back home on October 19, and he passed away at 3:30 am on October 20.

A complaint filed by his brother, Ramakrishna (42), alleges foul play in Balakrishna's death. According to the complaint, Balakrishna's wife, Pratima, allegedly had a prior relationship with a man named Dileep from Hirgan. It is suggested that Pratima, frustrated by the obstacles Balakrishna posed to her ongoing friendship with Dileep, conspired to murder him. Allegedly, she and Dileep planned the murder, with Dileep purportedly providing a toxic substance to be added to Balakrishna’s food, causing his health to deteriorate gradually.

Furthermore, the complaint states that around 1:30 am on October 20, Dileep reportedly visited their home, where he and Pratima allegedly suffocated Balakrishna using a bedsheet. Based on this complaint, the Ajekar police have registered a case.
