Udupi, Aug 1: A young woman has been feared drowned after she was pulled away by the waves at Malpe beach near here on Sunday, August 1.

Three girls and a boy of Kodagu origin had come to Malpe beach on Sunday morning and were playing in the water. Though locals warned them not to get down into water, they did not heed their words.

No , actually me and my family members were on the beach the same day this happened right infront of our eyes we were about to get into the waters , then we saw some guys pulling 2 girls and a boy out of the see , in no time many of the locals tried to rescue the 3rd girl who went missing but it was of no use because the ocean was too rough , later when the police came they sent all the people out of the beach, while the rescued 3 members were taken to the hospital.

I understand these young people should have avoided going deep inside the wave but Malpe being such a popular beach in Udupi there was no coastal guard or any rescue boat present at the spot. No one was there to warn or rescue. The girl life could have been saved if had any such things bcoz before drowning local tried more than 10 mins to pull her back but due to strong waves it was very difficult.

Any latest news on this??? Heard few things...all 4 were drowned, however locals were able to pull them back to shore. The girl who drowned was also along with other 3 and locals had caught hold of her hand too. But then another big wave came and pulled the girl across. Her hand was slipped away in seconds. Its unfortunate when all her cousins were saved and she faced this. The search was stopped after 06.00pm yesterday since it was getting dark. After that dint get to hear anything???

This was not the right time to even step into the sea when the sea is rough. Moreover, the three men and the woman did not heed to the warning of the locals.
