Udupi, Jul 29: Deputy commissioner (DC)  G Jagadeesha asked to admit the maximum number of students at the residential schools in the district and asked their principals to provide details of facilities available in them to the students and their parents. He was speaking after presiding over the meeting of residential school principals, hostel wardens, computer teachers and first grade assistants over entrance examination for sixth standard and maintenance of residential schools. The meeting was held at the deputy commissioner’s auditorium on Thursday July 29.

“English medium residential schools run by the state government including Morarji Desai school, Dr B R Ambedkar school and Indira Gandhi schools have invited applications for admission to sixth class before August 10. Make sure that students benefit from them,” he said.

“Residential schools are providing quality education including free food, accommodation, uniforms, shoes, text books and note books. Though students of other districts are making use of the facilities, students of Udupi districts too should benefit from the schools. The education department officials should provide guidance to submit applications for admission. There should be wide publicity in the media and social networks in this connection,” he said.

“Applications can be submitted to residential schools at Miyar, Kalathur, Hirebettu, Aroor, Shankernarayana, Siddapur, Yadyadi-Mathyadi and Heranjalu. Entrance examination will be held on September 16,” he added.

District entrance examination inspectors, department of social welfare deputy director Anita Madlur, BCM district level officer Devendra Biradar, ITDP department project coordinator Doodpir, DDPI N H Nagoor, Diet principal Vedamurthy, district coordinator Chandrashekar B and others were present.
