Mangaluru, Jul 29: The department of English, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru organized a guest talk on Wednesday July 28 2021, for the students of the postgraduate and undergraduate levels where the students were exposed to new vistas and possibilities of interning alongside their studies.
The guest speaker Sandhya Karnad Deviah who is a mentor and guide at SoMe (School of Meaningful Experiences) -a startup based in Bengaluru that focuses on building youth by training them in soft skills, marketing, business development and video editing- introduced the audience to the current trends in the industry and highlighted the need to bridge the gap between classroom teaching-learning and ever changing work place needs. In an extremely clear and concise manner she highlighted the benefits of interning and the different possibilities to develop skills and enhance ones employability early on. Her focus was on the interships offered by SoME.
There were four students of the postgraduate department of English, Dhanya Pai, Lina Georg, Sara Monis and Linta George who are currently interning at SoME, who shared their experiences with the audience. The one hour guest talk concluded the hope that many more interested candidates would be able to chart their path towards the career of their dreams through interships.
