Moodbidri, Sep 16: The 105th birth anniversary of world renowned engineer late Sir M V Visvesvaraya and ‘Engineers Day’ was celebrated along with a technical information programme at Dr M V Shetty Institute of Technology, Thodar, on Wednesday September 15.
H Prakash Pai, senior officer, Mangalore Refineries and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), inaugurated the programme by garlanding the portrait of Visvesvaraya.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that MRPL has been one among the top companies in the country which takes safety as a major challenge.
Pai urged the students to sharpen their experimental capabilities on many aspects along with the studies.
In his presidential address, Dr M R Shetty, chairman, M V Shetty Education Trust said that one can achieve something significant in life, if one follows the ideals of Visvesvaraya.
Dr S J Nayak, principal, M V Shetty Memorial College, stressed the significance of every second through many examples. He also said that M V Shetty Memorial Education Institutions are following the
ideals of Visveshvaraya.
Pai released the technical report on ‘Impact of Changing Land Use Condition on Coastal Croplands’ compiled by Dr S J Nayak after 6–7 years of research.
MRPL officer Arun Kulkarni explained the technical operations through power point presentations and honoured engineer Yashwant Rai by draping a shawl and presenting a memento.
Dr M V Shetty Institute of Technology administrative officer Chandrashekar was also present.
