Vijayanagara, Jun 5: In a tragic incident that occurred at Hospet three people of a family, including the secretary of state Mahila Congress died due to the dreaded coronavirus disease.
Secretary of state Mahila Congress, Caroline Lucia Smith (45) and her brother Savio Smith (42) had died 10 days ago due to Covid. Caroline had died the very next day of her brother Savio’s death. Their father Berry Smith, who was shocked of losing two children within a gap of one day died of cardiac arrest. All this has happened in a matter of 10 days. The family is devastated due to three deaths in the family.
Caroline Lucia Smith, who was actively involved in the activities of Congress party, was serving in the Janani women empowerment association of Hospet. She was the volunteer in the Covid survey programme that was being done by Hospet taluk administration.
