Udupi: Balebare ghat road - Vehicular movement ban extended till June 15

Udupi, Jun 4: Vehicular movement on the Thirthahalli - Kundapur state highway had been banned from Aril 22 to June 5 for undertaking concrete pavement works on the Balebare ghat section of the road.

Because of the recent cyclone and lockdown, the contractors did not get enough stock of crushed stones required for the works on time. The availability of workers for the project also shrank. The deputy commissioner, who extended the traffic ban till June 15 that the work also needs additional time for curing.

During this period, light vehicles moving towards Thirthahalli and Shivamogga from Kundapur have to move via Hemmady, Vandse, Kollur and Nittoor ghat areas. They can also take Koteshwar, Halady, Agumbe or Kundapur-Basrur, Hunsemakki and Halady route. Heavy vehicles on the road should take Kundapur-Bhatkal-Honnavar-Sagar-Ripponpet route. Vehicles moving to Shivamogga from Kundapur have to take Bhatkal-Honnavar road.
