Mangaluru, May 26: Police on Wednesday May 26 intercepted a fish transporting truck and seized 200 kg of ganja from it. Four accused were also arrested.
According to the information given by police commissioner N Shashi Kumar, while following up the dacoity case under Moodbidri police station limits and looking for more accused, the investigating team received information that huge quantity of ganja is being supplied from a place called Thoni Andhra, Vishakhapatnam. The information was followed up and it was revealed that the truck was coming from Hassan. Four accused were escorting the truck in a car from Hassan. On the way they supplied and divided the ganja at many places.
“When the truck reached KC Road, it was intercepted by the police and 200 kg of ganja was seized.
“Mohammed Farooq (24) from Kasargod, Sayyed Mohammed (31) from Kodagu, Mohammed Ansar (23) from Mudipu and Mohiudeen Nawaz (34) from Kasargod were arrested.
“They were trying to supply ganja in Mangaluru, Kodagu, Hassan and Kasargod. The fish truck was transporting ganja from Andhra to Kerala. We will arrest the others too as we have the network details now,” he said.
Along with the truck and 200 kg ganja, a Skoda car, four swords, Wi-Fi set and four mobile phones were also seized.
The police commissioner announced Rs 25,000 reward for the investigating team of Moodbidri police station and Mangaluru south sub division.
