Udupi, Feb 6: Moolageni Vokkalu Rakshana Vedike (R), to organize a meeting, at 10 am in Balakedarara Vedike Auditorium, near North School Udupi on February 9.

M K Yashodara, president Moolageni Vokkalu Rakshana Vedike, addressing media in the press meet held on February 6, said, “The meeting will provide special information to landowners in seven taluks of Udupi district under the joint auspices of the Moolageni Vokkalu Rakshana Vedike Mangaluru and Udupi regarding the developments in the government and judicial process and to strengthen the number of members. Experts and leaders of the forum will provide information about the issue.”

Kokkarne Surendranath Shetty, Udupi district committee member, said, “The event will provide updates on developments related to government and judicial processes and will aim to strengthen the membership base. When the Karnataka Land Reforms Act was introduced, no specific changes were made regarding the Moolageni landholders, resulting in issues later on. The court has created a legal framework, approved by the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, and received the President's assent. It was officially notified in 2011 and came into effect in 2012, but established landowners opposed the amount and sought to prevent the law from being enacted. The law issued must be implemented.”

Secretary Sandesh Prabhu, treasure Shankar Prabhu, and executive member Ronal D’Silva, were present during the press conference.
