Mangaluru, May 26: The police personnel of Mulky station have arrested five young men who have been accused of vandalizing a bakery and beating up the bakery owner allegedly angered by the fact that the victim had supported Israel in his Facebook post.
A youth who hails from Kundapur and currently resides at Surathkal operates Aishani Bakery at Karnad, Mulky. In a message posted in his Facebook account when referring to the recent developments involving Israel's aggression against the Palestinian activists, he allegedly had supported the Israeli action. Some locals, angered by this measure, barged into the bakery and posed death threats to the owner. They also forced the youth to apologise and recorded the apology on video, as per information.
Later, some leaders of Hindu organisations had visited the bakery, gathered information, and filed complaint with the Mulky police. The accused were arrested and produced before Panambur deputy commissioner of police upon which conditional bail was granted.
MLA Umanath Kotian, who visited the bakery in the company of BJP and Hindu organisation leaders, got information about the incident from Mulky police inspector Kusumadhar, and instructed to undertake proper investigation.
