Kundapur, May 25: Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha reiterated her remark where she claimed churches in Mudigere and Aldur of Malnad region were discouraging people from getting inoculated. "I stand by my previous statement of churches misleading people on vaccination." She further stated that religious conversion of people belonging to scheduled caste and scheduled tribe is taking place in these churches.
Last week the MP had said that people were being misled when they visit the church. She further asked that a probe be conducted to know the person responsible for misleading the public. "I am not saying that the Catholics have done this, but other denominations of Christianity like Pentecost. People are being misled by the churches which have come recently. Proper action should be taken against them," she had said.
The MP's remarks had drawn strong criticism from various Christian organisations. Even Mangalore diocese and Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh strongly opposed the BJP MP's comments.
