Bengaluru, May 24: Former minister Ramesh Jarkiholi who came into a string of controversy after a sleaze CD of him with another woman went viral, has confessed to being the man in the video.
Confessing to the investigating officers of his role in the video clip, the minister said, "Yes, it is me in the video, but I had no idea she was recording it."
He further went on to state that he knew the woman in the video and that they had met a couple of times prior to the day when the video was shot. Jarkiholi, however, asserted that he did not promise any government job to the woman in return for sexual favours. "Everything that happened between us was with consent," he added.
It may be recalled that it was in fact Jarkiholi who had firmly refused to accept the allegations made against him by the woman. He had said that he was a victim of conspiracy and that the charade was being played to extort money from him.
On March 26, acting on the complaint sent to the Bengaluru police by the woman through her lawyers, a complaint of assault and sexual intercourse by an official in authority under IPC sections 354 and 376(c) was registered against Jarkiholi.
The allegations against Jarkiholi had first come to light earlier in March of this year after the social worker and president of Nagarika Hakku Horata Samithi, Dinesh Kallahalli, released the CD to the media. Once the news caught attention, Jarkiholi resigned from his post just before the budget session.
