Mangaluru, May 14: Bhatkal Khalifa Jamaat-ul-Muslimeen president Mohd Meera Siddiq passed away on Thursday night at a private hospital in Mangaluru.
He was 75-years-old and was suffering from ill-health. He was the son of Late Abdul Hassan and grandson of Ismail Hassan Siddiq.
Born in 1945, Siddiq completed his initial education in Bhatkal and matriculation in Kolkata. His father owned a famous cloth store in Kolkata.
He had spent most of his life in UAE where he owned a business. He had taken a keen part in establishing the Bhatkal Gulf Council and Rabita office. He had also involved himself in the local development of the town.
His funeral prayers were held at Khalifa Jamia Masjid in Bhatkal on Friday, May 14 at 9 am.
Siddiq is survived by his wife, six sons and two daughters. Condolences poured on his demise from various leaders.
