Shivamogga, May 13: The issue of the transfer of Kuvempu University registrar and later developments have given rise to friction in the university. The tussle has now been referred to Bhadravathi rural police station. The vice chancellor (VC) has complained about the lock of the registrar’s office having been broken by Prof S S Patil, Patil has in turn, accused the vice chancellor of having trespassed his office.
After the government issued deployment order, C N Sridhar had taken over charge as the registrar of the university on Tuesday afternoon. By the same evening, the government, in another notification, cancelled Sridhar's transfer. In its order of cancellation of transfer, the government did not say that the previous registrar, Prof S S Patil, would continue. Therefore, the office of the registrar was locked on Tuesday evening as there was no incumbent in that post. But it is said that Prof Patil broke open the lock and entered the office. Vice chancellor, Prof Veerabhadrappa, sent a police complaint accusing Prof Patil of breaking open the lock while Prof Patil said that the vice chancellor trespassed his office.
The VC has claimed that as per the order, Prof Patil had been relieved and C N Sridhar took over charge. As Sridhar's order was cancelled, the room was locked on Tuesday evening but Prof Patil broke open the lock on Wednesday morning, he said. He added that he has sent a report to the government and will follow whatever instruction he receives.
The friction has arisen because of the confusing orders emanating from the department of personnel and administrative reforms department.
