Bicholim imposes 5-day lockdown to curb rise in Covid-19 cases

Panaji, May 5: Bicholim town will be observing a total lockdown for five days as a measure to curb the spurt in coronavirus infection from May 5.

The decision was taken on Tuesday, May 4 after a joint meeting of Bicholim municipality, police and health authorities, Bicholim Merchants%E2%80%99 Association and other stakeholders, as well as Bicholim MLA and speaker Rajesh Patnekar.

Patnekar said that banks, dispensaries, medical stores, fuel stations and hospitals will be allowed to operate while other businesses will be closed. The local MLA along with BMC chairperson Kundan Falari met shopkeepers and citizens, and urged them to fully cooperate with the lockdown by not stepping out of their homes unless the need arises.
