Panaji, Apr 20: The Congress demanded that the state government needs to get its act together and begin testing all those who enter the stage. The party also said that the 300-bed super-specialty block at Bambolim needs to be used to treat Covid-19 patients.
Varad Mardolkar, the party's youth wing president said that the Covid-19 figures in the state paint a very grim picture and likely to turn worse if it ventures into rural areas. Mardolkar said that if the cases rise in Goa's rural areas, the existing Covid facilities will not be enough to treat patients.
"The only person responsible for the situation in Goa is the state government, which is not at all serious in controlling Covid. No restrictions have been imposed in Goa. There is no seriousness seen in the steps taken by the state government," he said. Mardolkar also blamed the government for its failure to prepare for the second wave of the Covid pandemic. He said that Goa is running out of beds, ventilators, medicines, trained medical staff and even oxygen.
