Udupi: Alumni of SMVITM organizes Yakshagana performance

Udupi, Apr 7: Alumni of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM) have formed an association of amateur Yakshagana artists called ‘Yakshasiri Shashwatha Balaga’. This association organized a Yakshagana performance titled ‘Sri Krishna Leelarnava’ on Sunday, 04 April 2021 at Sri Lakshmi Janardhana Temple of Yermal.

The formal function was presided over by Sri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji of Sri Sode Vadiraja Mutt, Udupi. Swamiji in his presidential remarks, appreciated the efforts of the members of ‘Yakshasiri Shashwatha Balaga’ in organizing the Yakshagana performance, even though most of the artists are working in reputed companies located in Bengaluru.

Ratnakumar, secretary of Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust, in his address emphasized the need of today's youth in involving themselves in this type of societal activities. Dr Thirumaleshwara Bhat, principal of SMVITM, Sheela K Shetty, renowned Yakshagana artist & ZP member, Ashok Raj Yermal, administrative head of the temple, Krishnamoorthy Bhat, priest of the temple, Y Ramakrishna Rao, alumni Student of SMVITM and the president of ‘Yakshasiri Shashwatha Balaga’ Deviprasad Shetty were present on the dais.

The dignitaries have assured all support for the future activities of the association. Vice-principal, deans, HoDs, staff members, students and alumni of SMVITM were present on the occasion. Srinath Patkar compered the program. Jayaprakash Nidvannaya and Vasudeva Bhat Yermal were the bhagawaths of the Yakshagana performance.
