Mangaluru: Shakthi Group of Institutions celebrates 'Balidan Diwas'

Mangaluru, Mar 23: “Our thinking should go beyond our home and we youngsters should start thinking about our Mother Land. America will think of the economy, Europe about trade and commerce while India speaks of sacrifice and renunciation. The tradition of sacrifice is seen in Indians. Indians are not about money, not about followers or profession but sacrifice only” said Rajesh Padmar, lecturer in biology, renowned orator, social activist and a hobby journalist in his keynote address on the martyrs, who have received the highest military award Param Vir Chakra for displaying their valour during wartime.

A special lecture was arranged to mark the sacrifices of Bhagath Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Shivaram Rajguru at Shakthi. Rajesh Padmar also briefed on the making of Param Vir Chakra and its recipients. He also spoke of the peacetime awards and the wartime awards.

Dr K C Naik, the administrator of Shakthi Education Trust presided over the function. Ramesh K, the chief advisor, Prakyath Rai-Institute development officer, Sudheer M K, principal-in-charge of Shakthi PU College, Neema Saxena, co-ordinator of Shakthi Pre-School, all teaching and non-teaching staff and students were present on this occasion.

Vidya Kamath G, principal of Shakthi Residential School proposed the welcome address and introduced the guest. Sharanappa, Kannada Teacher compered the show and proposed the vote of thanks.
