Cyprus Bans Vuvuzelas

Nicosia, Jul 17 (IANS): Cyprus has banned the use of vuvuzelas in all sports stadiums, terming it as a "dangerous object".

The plastic trumpets, made famous in South Africa during the 2010 FIFA World Cup, will be confiscated if fans take them to stadiums, Xinhua reported citing police officials.

A police statement said vuvuzelas were considered "dangerous". It added that such "dangerous objects" could cause bodily harm or material damage.
