Mangaluru: St Agnes College conduct one-day intercollegiate student workshop

Mangaluru, Mar 18: Academic institutes provide space for youngsters to explore their professional skills, Brijesh Balakrishnan, senior vice-president of CSS Corp.

Speaking at the workshop titled ‘Being Professional’, Brijesh Balakrishnan, senior vice-president of CSS Corp said that it is only during their academic phase that youngsters get first-hand exposure to test their capacities, people-skills, and hone new talent. “Once in the professional sphere, the same students have to use their skills to exceed and excel in their career. Therefore it is very much utilising their academic years learning professional skills."

On Thursday, St Agnes College (Autonomous) in association with the Indian Society for Training and Development (ISTD) Mangaluru chapter has organized a one-day intercollegiate student workshop on ‘Being Professional’ on its campus. The daylong event was inaugurated by Sr Carmel Rita AC the administrator and former principal of St Agnes College. Over 120 students from undergraduate colleges across the city were selected for the session.

Following the inauguration of the workshop, Niveditha Mirajkar of ISTD said professionals, as well as students, must possess a positive attitude towards life. “This can be one of the best quality for their life and profession.”

Speaking about professionalism, the principal of St Agnes College Sr Dr Venissa AC said that investing in ourselves is one of the most profitable investments. “By choosing yourself to excel it takes us further in life."

The resource persons for the event included Shavina Soans (soft skill trainer), Anwesh Shetty (practising chartered accountant), Sapna Shenoy (investment services professional) and Yvonil Dsouza (investment services professional)

Sr Roopa Rodrigues, the vice-principal, Sr Dr Vinora A C, PG coordinator were present at the event. The event was coordinated by Dr Devi Prabha Alva, associate professor of Commerce, and Dr Shailaja H, Seementhini Carol Fernandes and Sr Christina Delphine AC were the assistant coordinators.
