Bangalore, Jul 16: Karnataka Governor, H R Bhardwaj, is not at all disturbed at being termed as a Congress agent by the BJP. He said at New Delhi on Thursday July 15, that he was proud of his deep-rooted links with the Congress Party. He also felt that in bringing the huge ore scam in the state to the notice of the President and central leaders, he was discharging his constitutional obligations, and nothing else.
“I am not a coward to disown my erstwhile roots in the Congress. At present, I am a Governor, and have been discharging duties as a Governor,” he said, in an interview given to a television channel. He asserted that he is proud to have been a part of the Congress Party, which has a commendable history, and disagreed with the BJP’s accusation that he was working for the Congress in the state. “I am not doing any organizational work on behalf of the Congress,” he clarified.
He said the state government headed by B S Yeddyurappa has in its files, records to prove that iron ore is being plundered. “Instead of finding fault with the Governor, they should do some soul searching,” he advised. He said that even if he chooses to ignore the issue now, someone else would rake it up later. At the same time, he commended the clout of Justice N Santosh Hegde, for taking the issue of illegal iron mining head on.
