Hassan, Feb 13: Four youngsters died after the car in which they were travelling rammed into a stationary container at Channarayapatna in the district in the early hours on Saturday February 13.
Those who died included an excise officer who was on his way to report for duty for the first time.
The deceased have been identified as Abhishek, Manjunath, Vikram and Chetan from Bengaluru. All those who died were in the age group of 25 and 30. Out of them, Chetan had recently been appointed as an excise sub-inspector. The other three were IT employees.
Chetan was going to report for his duties, and the other three friends had accomlpanied him to Chikkamagaluru from Bengaluru.
The car in which they were seated went out of the control of the driver after which it rammed into a container that was parked by the roadside, it is said. All thie four suffered grave iniuries and died on the spot,
Their bodies have been kept in the government mortuary at Channarayapatna.
A case relating to the accident was registered in Channarayapatna town police station.
In view of the gory accident, district in-charge minister, K Goplalaiah, visited the mortuary.
