Mangaluru, Feb 8: An Online Faculty Development Programme on Cyber Security from February 8 to 12, sponsored by AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy, is being conducted by the department of Computer Applications.
Dr Alwyn Roshan Pais, head of the department of CSE, NITK, Surathkal was the chief guest at the inaugural programme. Delivering the keynote address he stressed on the need for preserving online transactions by maintaining anonymity. "Security is not a one-time achievement but an ongoing process."
Robinson Dsouza, founder of CyberSapiens United LLP, was the guest of honour at the occasion. Addressing the audience, he spoke on the importance of enabling two factor authentications for social networking sites.
Sr Dr M Venissa AC, principal of St Agnes College (Autonomous) presided over the function. Sr M Carmel Rita AC, administrator of St Agnes College (Autonomous) was also present.
Malavika Adyanthaya, coordinator of ATAL FDP, head of the department of Computer Applications and Computer Science briefed the audience on the fourteen sessions to be conducted during the five-day FDP.
Jonita Rasquinha compered the inaugural programme, Seementhini Carol Fernandes welcomed the gathering while Sreevalli Shetty delivered the vote of thanks.
