Udupi, Feb 7: Muzrai minister Kota Srinivas Poojary clarified that the state government is not going to overtake the administration of any temple and people should not give heed to rumours.
Speaking to scribes, Poojary said, "In 2011, the then state government had given order to register private temples under the endowment act. In 2015, the then government, once again made a mandatory order to register the temple. Accordingly, every year, since 2015, the government sends reminders to temples. This is being rumoured as governmentalization of temples by certain vested interests. This is not the chaos that is created by me or our government. Still I have given instructions to stop sending reminders to the temple as it created unwanted confusion.
"Before the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic 1,500 applications were received for the Saptapadi marriage programme of the government. Out of that most of the marriages are done by the department. We have further invited new applications. The concerned officials are informed to fix four to five muhurats in a month and conduct marriages. According five, six and six muhuraths are specified in the month of March, April and May respectively.
"We will resolve the issue of insulting Billava and senior Congress leader Janardhana Poojary. He is not only the leader of the Billava community but a respectable politician of this country. He is the only senior politician who voices concern for the poor people. We have special regards towards him. We will not give opportunity to insult such a personality.
"There is a demand to provide loan at no interest to women of Billava, Ediga and Namadari communities like we have provided to women of weaver and fisherwoman communities. MLA of Ediga community has already submitted an appeal to the chief minister under their leader Timmegowda. Eight people representatives have given appeal to form a corporation in the name of Narayana Guru. We have taken up this matter with the chief minister. However, legal action will be taken against those who have given counter statements in this matter.
"The farmers' protest that is being held against the union government has lost its value. There are anti-national interests behind this protest. Acts of insulting the national flag have also taken place. People are instigated through tweets. The prime minister has invited farmers for discussions. But the farmers will not come for talks. If they say the government has to bend to their demands, it is not correct. Pro-farmer feelings of the union government need to be respected."
