Daijiworld Media Network - Brahmavar (SP)

Brahmavar, Jan 27: Three young men who arrived in a motorbike reportedly tried to steal items from a few houses located at Guddattu, near Shiriyara in the taluk on Tuesday January 26. Two among the accused were handed over to the police. They have been identified as Suresh and Rakesh from Bengaluru. The third one who fled was Nandish alias Vishwa.

It is said that the three men were lurking to steal things from the house of a live-alone lady. When the locals tried to catch hold of them, they had flashed a knife and escaped. Later, with the support of locals, the two were taken into custody from near Japthi village by the police who doggedly chased them. They were handed over to the police. The other member of the gang escaped. The police are now hunting for Nandish.

There were rumours that the gang was involved with the abduction of children but the police have denied the rumours. It was said that the gang was trying to snatch away a six-year-old son of Chandra Shiriyara and the people who noticed them, rushed to help the boy. At this, they left the boy behind and escaped, it was said. The people chased them in an auto and informed the police who chased them.

The police said the truth will come out after the investigation. So far, no one has filed a police complaint. Therefore the police propose to hand the arrested people over to Urwa police, Mangaluru.

The motorbike used by the trio was found to have been stolen from Urwa Store, Mangaluru. Out of the accused, one is from Bengaluru and other is a local. The local, it is said, provided information about the local conditions to the other two gang members.
