Udupi, Jan 25: Prakash Shankar, an ASI (Assistant sub-inspector) of the district crime record bureau, has been selected for the President police medal on the occasion of Republic Day.
Prakash has been selected for his tremendous achievements in crime scene observation methods. He had taken part in the investigation of many crime incidents which took place in Udupi district and had acquired solid evidences related to the cases which were helpful in cracking the same.
He had involved in the investigation of a murder case in Gangolli in 2009 where a son killed his mother. Prakash had probed the spot of crime and informed the department that the murder had been committed by blood relatives.
In a murder case that took place under Manipal police station limits in March 2009, Prakash had found the mobile phone of the victim which had helped to nab the accused.
He had also helped in cracking various serial theft cases which took place under Brahmavar, Hebri, Shirva and Udupi police station limits.
Prakash has also participated in police duty meet in ‘scientific aids to investigate’ in sub section observation held at Hyderabad and won silver medal.
He has represented Karnataka state police in various police duty meets and brought laurel to the department.
