Bengaluru, Jan 24: Farmers have been protesting for the past 60 days on the outskirts of the national capital against the new farm laws introduced by the central government. As the nine rounds of talks between the union government and leaders of farmers have failed, farmers have resorted to increasing the intensity of their protest. They have decided to hold a tractor rally in Delhi on Republic Day on January 26. It is said that thousands of tractors will take part in this rally.

Farmers in Karnataka are also extending huge support to the protest of farmers in Delhi. Samyukta Horata, Karnataka Vedike, State farmers' association and Hasiru Sene have already expressed their support to the protest and have decided to hold a huge tractor parade and convention in the city on January 26.

Badagalapura Nagendra, senior leader of farmers' association and eminent person leading the protest said that farmers from throughout Karnataka will arrive in Bengaluru with their tractors.

President of farmers' association Kodihalli Chandrashekhar said, "Protest will take place condemning the new APMC act and land reform act amendment. Thousands of farmers will take part in this rally. The rally will start from Nice road junction of Tumkur."

"This is the fight of farmers and labourers. Farmers, labourers and supporters of this protest from Mumbai-Karnataka, Hyderabad-Karnataka and Madikeri-Mysuru region will take part in this convention. Around 25,000 people are arriving from outstation districts. More tractors are arriving from nearby districts. In addition, two wheelers and other vehicles will also take part," said Chandrashekhar.

Tractor rally will begin from Kutta in Madikeri on January 25. It will arrive at Mysuru via Ponnampete, B Mangala, Gonikoppa, Thithimathi and Hunsur. From there the rally will reach Bidadi via Pandavapura and Mandya.

Vehicles arriving from Belagavi and Hubballi will halt at Chitradurga. Vehicles arriving from Raichur and Ballary will halt at Tumkur Math. Vehicles are arriving from Chikkaballapur and Kolar also as per the information given by Badagalapura Nagendra.

Nagendra further said, "All the vehicles will converge at the outskirts of the city at around 11 am on January 26 and enter the city at 12 noon. On January 26, senior freedom fighter H S Doreswamy will do the flag hoisting and urge the government to repeal the farm laws."
