Mangaluru: Srinivas University conducts oncology conference

Mangaluru, Dec 28: Srinivas University, College of Physiotherapy on December 26 and 27 conducted a two-day e-conference titled 'Embedding a rehabilitative approach in oncology care' of December at the university, City Campus, Pandeswar.

The conference began with a pre-inaugural session on December 26 at 9 am followed by the formal inaugural ceremony.

Dr Srinivas Rao, the pro-chancellor of Srinivas University, Dr U T Iftikar Ali, syndicate member of RGUHS, Dr Ajay Kumar, registrar (development), Dr S Rajasekar, dean of the College of Physiotherapy graced the occasion with their presence.

The ceremony started with a prayer song. Dr S Rajasekar addressed the gathering and the dignitaries were florally welcomed.





Dr U T Iftikar Ali, president of IAP, Karnataka inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp.

Briefing about the conference was done by Dr N Mageswaran, the assistant professor of the College of Physiotherapy who gave the idea on importance of physiotherapy in oncology care.

Dr Srinivas Rao, the pro-chancellor of Srinivas University encouraged the audience with his inspiring words.

The formal function ended with the vote of thanks delivered by Dr Radhika Gopal, the joint secretary of the oncology conference.

Over 110 delegates participated in the conference virtually from different parts of the country.

The sessions on day 1 were given by Dr Venktesh Vaidhyalingam - a surgical oncologist, Dr Udayakumar Maiya - onco surgeon and Dr Stephen R Samuel - onco physiotherapist who inspired the Physiotherapy students with their knowledge and experience.

There was a scientific poster presentation (PG category) in which many students participated. Winners were awarded with cash prize.

Day 2 conference had four sessions given by Dr M S Satish, chief physiotherapist, Dr N Mageswaran, assistant professor, Dr Srinivasan Vijay, onco physiotherapist and Dr Vincent Paramanandam who enlightened the delegates with their sessions. The conference ended with a valedictory ceremony.
