Udupi: St Mary’s College Shirva holds farewell programme for Professor Rajan V N, Juliet Veera Rego

Udupi, Dec 21: A farewell programme was organized on December 19 at St Mary’s College Shirva for the retired principal of the college, Professor Rajan V N and Juliet Veera Rego, the administrative staff.

Professor Rajan retired on April 30 and Juliet Veera Rego in July.

From the chair of the president, Fr Vincent Crasta, secretary of Catholic Education Society Udupi and assistant secretary of the Catholic Board of Education Mangaluru conveyed wishes on his behalf, and on behalf of the bishop and vicar-general to the retired staff. He called on the faculty members to be genuine in their duties, to have respect for the institution where they serve, as through this only can all invoke God's blessings.



Fr Dennies D’sa the correspondent of St Mary’s College and other sister institutions, thanked Professor Rajan and Juliet Veera Rego for their selfless service to the institution. He appreciated Professor Rajan for taking ethical and disciplined and bold steps as principal in his tenure.

Fr Xaviour Gomes, Professor Jagadisha, student representative Shaila, Richard Sequiera, Professor Vittal Nayak narrated the good qualities exhibited by Professor Rajan and Juliet Veera Rego to the gathering. The Scroll of Honor was read by Jackline and Sangeetha Poojary.

Prof Rajan V N and Juliet Veera Rego recalled their sweet memories of childhood, profession and thanked all the bishops, correspondents, principals and all who helped them in their career directly and indirectly.

The programme was witnessed by former principals of the college, principals of the neighbouring colleges, sister institutions, family members of Professor Rajan V N, president of the alumni association, president of the parent-teachers association, faculty members of the college, student representatives and other invitees.

Dr Herald Ivan Monis, the principal of St Mary’s College Shirva welcomed the gathering, prayer and farewell song was sung by the choir team of the college, Professor Reema Lobo proposed the vote of thanks and compering was by Professor Laxmi Acharya.
