Dubai : SMKC Pays Tribute to Mangalore Plane Crash Victims

Dubai, May 28: St. Mary's Church was packed on this Thursday, 27 May, 2010 for the  requiem mass offered in konkani for all the departed souls of the dead passengers on board the ill-fated flight IX 812.    St. Mary's Konkan Community (SMKC), Dubai organized the scheduled Konkani mass especially for the victims of the Air India express crash as it landed at Bajpe Mangalore airport on 22 May early morning.

















The  concelebrated mass at 8.00 pm by 4 priests was offered for all the departed souls of the victims to rest in peace.   Never had St. Mary's church witnessed such a huge crowd on the usual konkani Eucharistic celebrations on the fourth Thursday of every  month.    But yesterday people responded in big numbers to partake in the sorrow and pray for many families who lost their near and dear ones.    The entire church seating was packed and overfilled by standing crowd from every side.  It showed the solidarity of konkan people to express their love and concern and pray for the departed souls.    At the end of this service, Norbert Sequeira gave an eulogy to the gathered crowd. 

St. Mary's Konkan Community (SMKC), Dubai will be organizing for the parish level congregation yet another requiem mass in English on Tuesday, 01 June 2010, at 7.00 pm at St. Mary's Church so that it gives an opportunity for all the other communities to join in and pray for all the victims.
