Sullia, Dec 6: Renowned Kukke Shree Subramanya Temple on Sunday December 6 witnessed a sea of devotees who came to offer Ashlesha Puja.
Huge crowds were seen lining up at the temple premises.
Scores of devotees stood in the car street and outer premises of the temple. Hundreds of devotees were seen standing in queue to get service receipt. As only limited service receipts were issued, some of the devotees even had verbal arguments with the service counter staff.
The devotees formed a beeline in order to get service receipt so that they could offer the puja. Crowds gathered from between midnight to six in the morning from circle to the Gopura of the temple.
Ashlesha Bali happens to be the most popular service being offered to Lord Subramanyeshwara at Subramanya temple. Considering its popularity and rush of devotees even after introduction of the service in three phases in the morning hours, the temple has started to offer this service in the evening hours too. It is believed that Shravana Masa (Aadi Masam - beginning late July and ending third week of August), Karthika masa (beginning with new moon in November), and Margashira masa (from November to December) are the most auspicious months to perform Aslesha Bali Puja at Kukke temple.
