Bantwal: With gram panchayat polls approaching, season of changing parties begin

Bantwal, Dec 5: The epoch of changing parties as gram panchayat elections are approaching has begun here. Former member of Golthamajalu gram panchayat Elias D’Souza and his supporters had deserted Congress and joined the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) a week ago.

In a surprising political development, former member of taluk panchayat, Congress party leader of Manchi, D K Hamza, his supporters Jagadish Shetty, Mavanthooru, Chandrahasa Poojary and Mustafa Malgarapatna deserted Congress and joined BJP. In a simple programme in the party office in B C Road, the party under the leadership of MLA Rajesh Naik Ulipadiguthu, handed over party flag, draped shawl and welcomed them.



Rajesh Naik said that big leaders of Congress will be joining BJP in the future. “There is an inclination towards BJP from the centre till gram panchayat level. The party welcomes all those who come liking the principles of BJP which works for the country with pro nation thoughts.”

“All will be treated equal without any discrimination of resident of migrated people. We hope to win 39 gram panchayat seats in Bantwal. BJP is prepared for gram panchayat elections that prepare base level activists to be future leaders,” said BJP block committee president Devappa Poojary.

“Those who are tired of Congress’ family based politics and failure of leaders are waiting on their toes to join BJP. They are being admitted after screening to BJP upon directions of BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel. D K Hamza and others were admitted in the beginning. More Congress leaders will be joining BJP in the future,” said state Keonics president Harikrishna Bantwal.

Bantwal town project authority president Devadas Shetty, block committee vice president Ronald D’Souza, secretary Ramanath Rai, Seetarama Poojary, Ganesh Rai Mani, Yuva morcha chief secretary Sudarshan Baja, former taluk panchayat member Vasanth Annalike and others were present.

Block chief secretary Dombaya Arala welcomed and rendered a vote of thanks.
