Zero traffic: Netizens criticise reckless driving of four-wheelers escorting ambulance

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Dec 5: Netizens have heavily criticized the reckless driving of nearly 15 vehicles escorting the ambulance in a negligent way while shifting a 22-year-old patient suffering from pulmonary disease from Puttur to Bengaluru in zero traffic.

On Wednesday, ambulance driver Mohammed Haneef shifted the patient from a private hospital in Puttur to Vydehi Hospital in Whitefield, Bengaluru.

In the video, more than 15 four-wheelers escorting the ambulance were noticed. The occupants in the vehicles popping out their heads through windows and reckless driving was heavily criticised.

Moreover, at Thanniruhalla in Hassan, a bicycle rider who watching the shifting of a patient in zero traffic had luckily escaped unhurt, while a Scorpio car driver could not control his vehicle. Though, people lauded the ambulance driver for shifting the patient in a short span of time, the public have heavily criticised reckless driving of private vehicles that escorted the patient's ambulance.

Superintendent of police B M Lakshmi Prasad stated to an English daily that the video clip has come to his notice but no complaint was received, as the footage was from the Hassan district.

High time we develop a chain of air ambulances in our area so that patients can be transported easily across cities. Air ambulances is the best ay to transport critical cases

Ambulance is required to transport patient and family...government police and people have created zerotraffic valuing life of patient...rest of the vehicles could have been avoided if they really valued life more than show off at this critical hour also!!!!!same money can be contributed to patient needs which will help the family
Such events make situation difficult for next person who may be suffering not get the benefit if such misbehavior done even in critical hour...utilising what we have in best way is more important than cribbing of what we dont have

The patient could have been treated at Puttur which has medical facilities.Once he is stable he could have been shifted to Mangalore which is nearer and has equally or better facilities than Bangalore. What is the need of more than one ambulance to shift a single patient.I am sure if it was announced that the patient required a unit of blood 90 % of the people in the convoy would have disappeared.

What are they gonna do if the vehicle breaks down, spare vehicles will be needed at that time... You know how good our Indian roads are. There has to be some reason to take the patient to bangalore..!! just think before you comment.

This is the reason they arranged 3-4 ambulances in convoy. This video resembles Iraq, Syria type of operations...

Government should take action. In future Traffic Police must issue permission to only required vehicles to accompany the Ambulance. This type of practice should stop.

I was travelling from Belthagady to Ujire with my family on that day and we were not aware of this. Belthangady to Ujire is a narrow road, though it is a national highway. All of sudden these escort vehicles (first one is an ambulance) with men popping out from the windows were zooming on the road, though locals wer aware but almost all vehicle drivers were not aware of this. Though we managed to stop our car sideby, I have noticed a senior citizen on two wheeler coming from the opposite side, was almost about to fall of road , but managed to escape.

No Police escort vehicles were there. These guys were acting like... there is no traffic rules for them, Better the police take action and the government must frame rules for this, now fashionable 'zero traffic movement

Puttur to Bangalore by Ambulance???? I have not heard so far this kind of thing. Also, who is this 22 year old to be accompanied in this manner? Our top political leaders are nor getting such long convoy. On whole it looks like most are having fun rather than other thing else.

Ambulances have also to follow traffic rules, though people naturally allow ambulances to go first. There have been a large number of accidents due to ambulances being driven in a rash manner. In order to save the life of one sick person ,one or more healthy persons cannot be killed. In this case all escort vehicles have to be seized. The bicycle rider seems to be lucky.

All other vehicles other than the ambulance should be seized by the police. Iam sure these many vehicles had not asked permission to travel along with the ambulance. They all are enjoying the dangerous ride taking advantage of a helpless patient. Had respect for the ambulance driver ,but not anymore .

The failure of the government to arrange helicopter in such cases has made some hooligans to make use of the opportunity to show their heroism on road putting the life of others in jeopardy.

This is like killing 10 to save one

Cant help when one lives in third world countries like INdia.
