Mangalore: Fisherwomen to Have Buses of their Own

Mangalore, May 17: The Karnataka Fisheries Development Corporation (KFDC) will soon introduce buses called “Matsyavahini” for fisherwomen. This means that these women will be able to travel with fish baskets without any hassles faced otherwise routinely.

The buses will start operating from June second week. Two buses each entirely at their service in each of the fisheries ports in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada has been planned to be introduced.

The KFDC will operate buses at all ports in the Karwar-Mangalore region. The buses would make two trips daily from Ullal to Bunder and from Sasihitlu to Bunder in Mangalore region.

    MR Baikampady congratulation on this much waited move. Hope your side trackers atleast will not be able to digest this. Your previous move with fresh fish stall in a hygenic way was actually very long sighted , But alas the community has such short sighted leaders who donto want the society chagne at the way they address fisher folk or the attitude about fisher women.
