BANGALORE, MAY 10: Electioneering for the second phase of grama panchayat polls for 2,833 grama panchayats in 15 districts of Karnataka came to an end at 6 pm on Monday. Polling will be held on Wednesday, May 12, from 7 am to 9 pm.
Grama panchayats of Mysore, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Kogadu, Mandya, Chikmagalur, Dakshina Kannada, Kundapur taluks of Ududpi district, Belgaum, Bijapur, Bagalkote, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, and Uttara Kannada are going to the polls on Wednesday.
A little over 1.15 lakh candidates are in the fray for 40,423 seats in 15 districts. Of the total number of seats, there were no nominations for 126 seats while 3,937 candidates have been elected unopposed in 15 districts.
The State Election Commission (SEC) has ordered repolling on Wednesday in 24 polling stations in 11 districts where gram panchayat elections were held in the first phase on Saturday.
Counting of votes in the respective districts will take place on Monday, May 17 and the results all over the state should be available by late evening.
