Kadaba, Oct 28: People of Nellyadi in the taluk have shown that humanity still exists in the present world, which is filled with jealousy and inhuman behaviour by individuals in the society.
A man, who was living like an orphan in the Nellyadi market area since 25 years, died three days ago. People of all religion got together and took part in his last rites and announced to the society of communal harmony and humanity.
Nobody knows the actual name of the person. People used to call him CID Shankar, when he first came to Nellyadi 25 years ago. The reason behind his naming was that the public of Nellyadi were indeed scared of him thinking that he must be a camouflaged CID, who has come to investigate some murder case.
People of nearby residences and hoteliers used to provide food for this person since 25 years. He was suffering from sickness since some days. He died in a hospital in Puttur on October 26.
Public of Nellyadi, cutting across religious lines, assembled to receive the mortal remains of the orphan man when it was brought to Nellyadi from Puttur. His body was kept for public viewing at Gandhi Maidan of Nellyadi. Later it was taken to crematorium in Koukradi and final rites were held.
Through this exemplary act of humanity, people of Nellyadi showed that humanity still exists in this world.
