Mangaluru, Feb 12: A team that arrived in a car attempted to kidnap students of a local English-medium school, but the attempt was unsuccessful, as it was revealed later.

Near the rural area of Mulki, some individuals sitting in an Omni car near the school were seen trying to lure students by showing them chocolates and calling them closer. Since the individuals were strangers, the children did not approach them. When this team member showed a knife to threaten the children, they got scared and immediately ran back to the school and informed the principal. When the principal and other children arrived at the scene, it was found that the suspects had fled in the car. The incident, which occurred on Saturday, came to light only on Tuesday.

The school management promptly informed the Mulki police and requested action to trace the suspects. The police are examining the CCTV footage to apprehend the culprits. The school's CCTV shows a white Maruti Omni car parked outside the school premises on the road, with the students noticing the car and running back in fear. However, the car's registration number is unknown.

The school administration has taken adequate precautions, and for the past two days, the police have been patrolling the school premises during school hours, both in the morning and at dismissal time.

The news of the incident has caused concern among the parents. The police have advised parents to remain cautious, instructing children not to leave the school premises unless accompanied by parents or regular drivers. Following the incident, other schools in the Mulki area have also taken preventive measures.
