Bengaluru, Oct 2: Union government has left to the discretion of state governments the matter of starting the schools. Karnataka government is seeking the advice and instructions of the primary and high school education department, teachers, educational experts and people representatives in this regard.
Private schools and the administrative boards of the schools are all set to start the schools. Meanwhile, educational experts have also opined that it is a wise decision to order the commencement of schools. But the mindset of parents also has to be considered.
Earlier, the department of public instruction had gathered the opinion of parents in this matter and had received mixed views. There is a question mark whether the parents will send their wards to schools with the number of coronavirus infections rising by leaps and bounds. On the other hand, some parents are also concerned that the children may lose the touch with schooling as they are spending more time at home because of the pandemic.
At present, the parents are sending their children to the place where the teachers are teaching under the 'Vidyagama' scheme. School administrative committees believe that the parents will definitely send their children to schools if they take enough precautions against Covid.
The safety measures that are undertaken by the school management should be effectively conveyed to the parents. It will be easier to conduct classes if the responsibility of each child is shared equally by the school and parents. As the educational experts are also of the opinion that it is better to start schools as soon as possible, it is inevitable that the state government takes a decision soon in this regard.
