Puttur, Aug 27: Taluk panchayat (TP) executive officer here, Naveen Bhandary, has filed a police complaint in the town station here against four persons who held a protest demonstration against him in front of the taluk office premises. He has accused them of sitting on dharna in front of his office and creating an obstruction for the officers and other staff from discharging their duties. He also further said that these persons had made false allegations against him and spread defamatory statements against him through social media.
Bhandary has named advocate, B M Bhat, and Laila village residents, Manjunath and Harini, apart from Nitin Kodibail from Kodibail Kutruppady as the accused.
A poultry farm and piggery shop have been opened in an illegal building constructed in government land located at Nettana within Bilinele gram panchayat limits without obtaining any licence. The gram panchayat had served notices on Muralidhar, who constructed this building, and Harini, who owns the shop. The panchayat had asked them to vacate the government land. The general session of the gram panchayat had also passed a resolution towards this end. As they failed to vacate the building, gram panchayat development officer, using the power vested with him, had locked up the shop.
Bhandary said that on August 24, with the purpose of obstructing him and others from discharging their duties, a ten-member crowd had gathered in front of the taluk panchayat, which held a meeting till 1 pm in which a provocative address containing false allegations against him was made. He also mentioned that publicly the accused had alleged at the meeting that the executive officer had collected bribes from them.
The police are looking into the complaint.
