Udupi, Aug 21: The case pertaining to the demise of the assistant priest of Shirva our Lady of Health Church at Shirva, who also was the principal of Don Bosco English Medium School, was handed over to the Corps of Detectives (COD) investigation as per the demand of the residents of Shirva village in tune with the instruction of the state minister for home and cooperation dated January 10, 2020.
A case has been registered in Shirva police station in this connection under sections 306, 204, 506 and 201 of Indian Penal Code in which David D'Souza has been named as accused. D'Souza has been arrested and the case is under investigation.
The deputy secretary for crimes, prisons and cinema, internal administration department, has now issued an order transferring the case to the criminal investigation department (CID) for further investigation. The CID team has been asked to complete the investigation soon and to file a report in the court besides submitting a report to the government on the steps taken.
