Dubai, Mar 22: Nitte Gulabi Shetty Memorial Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (NGSMIPS) alumni members here came together to pay their respect, love and affection to the visiting faculty members of the institute at the Poolside venue of the Dubai Grand Hotel, recently.
The meet was chaired by the guest of honour B G Mohandas, head of the department, hospital and clinical pharmacy services, GMC University Teaching Hospital and former faculty of Manipal University. In his inaugural address, he commended the NGSMIPS alumni as the most vibrant and active group of professionals and said he shall look forward to more such professional and family meetings in the coming months.
The visiting faculty, Prof Dr Narayana Charyulu and Prof. Dr Prashanth Shetty were felicitated by the guest of honour. Senior lecturer Nisha Girish Shetty and former faculty Ronald D’Souza were also felicitated.
MC Girish Shetty roped in everybody to a cheer with B G Mohandas addressing the gathering with his memories of association with Prof. Dr D Satyanarayana and NGSMIPS. He stressed on the need of the alumni to be in touch with the college and the faculty for continual improvement of the Pharmacy community.
Dr Charyulu emphasized the importance of the faculty – alumni association to bring in fresh and new ideas of development to the institute and the students alike. An endeavour to facilitate the growing need of the alumni for post-graduate and PhD educational programmes was also affirmatively addressed by Dr Charyulu, which gathered a lot of interest amongst the present alumni. Dr Prashanth expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the hospitality.
Nisha Shetty spoke about the Herald (NGSM news bulletin) and stressed the need to stay connected with the institution and the growing global pharmacy community. Naveen delivered the vote of thanks.
All the alumni members were to a treat with some gift hampers sponsored by New Medical Centre for Trading, Dubai.
