Mangaluru, Aug 19: “When the poorest of poor have the freedom to live in harmony, India achieves the real freedom”, said Fr Lancy Fernandes SJ, chief guest of the 74th Independence Day celebrations held at St Aloysius Gonzaga School.
St Aloysius Gonzaga School celebrated the 74th Independence Day on August 15, with zeal and enthusiasm. The celebrations commenced by invoking the divine. Fr Lancy M Fernandes SJ along with the principal, Fr Melwyn Lobo unfurled the national flag. The chief guest in his message highlighted the aspects of true nationalism, freedom and development.
The principal urged the teachers to sow seeds of freedom in the students' mind to help them discover the inner freedom and become free citizens of India. Deepthi Karkada welcomed the gathering and Sushrutha M P proposed the vote of thanks.
In commemoration of Independence Day, various activities were conducted for the students of classes I to X such as patriotic singing, drawing, elocution, essay writing, e-card etc. All the students participated and felt the joy of celebrating Independence day.
