Mangaluru, Aug 5: The department of Microbiology of St Agnes College (Autonomous), here in association with Mangala Group of Educational Institutions, in the city, organized an online certificate course on 'A Step Towards Healthier Tomorrow' from July 20 to August 5 for 30 hours.
Participants included students from PUC and UG and faculty members from various colleges. The number of participants in this programme was 220. The Department of Microbiology designed this course to create awareness of Health Care and healthy practices to be followed in day to day life. This was achieved with the support and cooperation from the resource persons of Mangala Group of Educational Institutions, Mangaluru.
Sr Dr M Venissa A C principal of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru delivered the inaugural address and encouraged the students to actively participate in all the sessions since this course is of utmost relevance to face the current pandemic. Karthik Kamath, course coordinator, Mangala Group of Educational Institutions gave an overview of the course. Prajwal Rao H, assistant professor of the department of Microbiology and the convenor of the course, coordinated the lecture series for the certificate course. The highlights of the course included lecture series, practical demonstration and Q and A sessions.

An added feature of the course was a practical demonstration of yoga by Amarnath Mallya, a post-graduate from TAPMI, Manipal and volunteer with Art of Living Foundation.
The certificate course was highly appreciated by the participants. E certificates would be given to the registered participants based on their attendance and submission of assignments.
