Shivamogga: Police thwart attempt to sell 15-day baby

Shivamogga, Jul 31: The police personnel of Tunganagar station here and staff of the child helpline busted a racket that was trying to sell a 15 days old male baby. The team not only rescued the child but also arrested four persons.

The arrested persons happen to be Shyla, Suma, Tulasi and Shanmukha, all from Tippu Nagar here.

The team raided a house in Tippu Nagar and took into custody people involved with trading the child. They found that a woman who runs a beauty parlour in Tippu Nagar had prepared to sell the above baby at her residence with the help of a local lady. The child has been handed over to a relative of Suma. The police learnt that all preparations to sell the child for Rs 1.5 lac had been made. The family members said during the questioning that they had decided to sell the child in view of family poverty and the mentally insane condition of the child's mother. The three women have been kept in the women's counselling centre.

The police are trying to find out the possible involvement of any other people in this activity.

    What one can say here?Someone sells baby of somebody.Do the parents of this baby not known?What says father of this baby or none?Looks like a racket baby to produce with illegal means ,or with help of hospital personal,telling mother baby is dead ,then do the marketing.how sad is this then?Poor woman and sad side of baby.I heard in TV here some where in Mumbai women ready to bear a child for others and cash money.many times when baby is sick they leave back the baby.Such persons must be severely punished and stop this racket.let anyone wants baby follow the proper ways approach officials.That is always better.Hope the baby finds the original mother and she takes the baby back.I hardly know any mother gives up baby because of poverty.
