Mangaluru: Death threat to former DC of DK Sindhu Rupesh – Accused arrested

Mangaluru, Jul 29: The person who posed death threat to former deputy commissioner (DC) Sindhu P Rupesh on social media, was arrested by Moodbidri police on Wednesday July 29.

The arrested has been identified as Ranjith (20), resident of Mijar.

Ranjith, a member of a WhatsApp group, had posed death threat to Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner (DC) Sindhu B Rupesh. The screenshots of the WhatsApp chat had become viral in the social media.

Discussions were on in a WhatsApp group on the reported statement of the DC warning of strict legal action when referring to attacks happening on cattle transporters in the district. During this debate, a person directly posed death threat to the DC in Tulu language.

It may be recalled Sindhu P Rupesh, was transferred in a routine transfers of IAS officers by the state government on Tuesday July 28 to be replaced by Dr Rajendra K V.

    Here in this case the offender didn't , went beyond and got arrested.

    He will come out clean. I am sure. He is the part of a noble and holy work as a gowrakshak. I think. That’s how it is here by looking back at the previous incidents.
    But threatening a officer or anyone , is a big crime. I think he will be banned from using social media for few weeks as a punishment. That’s how we act, banning the Apps, not playing cricket, banning artists etc.
    WhatsApp should be banned. So as FaceBook. People are misusing them big time these days.

    No ! Transferring her her sets a bad sign. She shouldn't have been transferred but the man nabbed first. This would have given a message that 'no nonsense is tolerated' ! So that any future culprit will be intidated.
